Combine delicate ribbonwork with three-dimensional stumpwork to create this charming secret garden design of dainty flowers which bloom around a tiny metal key and padlock.

This embroidery is one of ten designs which are featured in the book Stumpwork Embroidery: Techniques And Projects, written by Helen Richman of The Bluebird Embroidery Company. 

This simple design will introduce you to a select range of embroidery stitches and a number of the techniques used to create both ribbonwork and stumpwork embroidery. This will include creating beautiful embroidery stitches using silk ribbon and threads, creating 3D embroidered wired shapes with couching and buttonhole stitch edging and creating decorative fly stitch, stem stitch and long and short stitch.

While this kit accompanies the Stumpwork Embroidery book, it is not necessary to have a copy in order to complete the design; this kit includes all of the threads, fabrics, wires, silk ribbons, needles and templates required and the clear instruction booklet with step by step photographs will guide you easily through your project.

Materials included in the kit: Pre-printed Linen Twill fabric, silk ribbons, DMC stranded cotton threads, green cotton fabric, calico fabric, size 9 embroidery needle, size 24 chenille needle, size 16 chenille needle, cake wire, padlock and key charms.

Skill Level: Beginner to intermediate

Additional equipment required: two ring frames between 4 and 8 inches, embroidery scissors, fine tipped marker pen, clear PVA glue and a small paintbrush.
