Au Ver a Soie Silk Chenille a Broder

The word Chenille in French literally translated means ‘caterpillar’ which precisely describes the appearance of this thread. This is a ‘round’ chenille and the little fibres of silk stand out at right angles, like the hairs of a caterpillar. Stunning Silk Chenille a Broder is silky, smooth and even and can be couched or stitched on. It will add interest to any needlework project. Silk Chenille was used extensively in the seventeenth century on raised embroidery panels for caskets (stumpwork). It can also be used for trimmings and decoration.
