Fine d'Aubusson Wool by Au Ver a Soie

Fine d'Aubusson wool is from Au Ver a Soie and made in France. Although it is labelled as tapestry wool, it is more a crewel wool as it is very fine; it is similar to the now discontinued DMC Medicis. It is a lovely, soft, fine wool and can be used for all types of embroidery including crewel embroidery, canvas work, cross stitch and tapestry. There are 8 metres (8.7 yards) per skein but as the strands are in bundles of 4, there is actually 32 metres of each strand. You can use one strand or combine two or more, depending on the embroidery you are working on and the effect you are looking for; it may be worth experimenting to see what you prefer. It is currently available in 120 colours, 100% Merino wool and is colour fast. We carry the entire range.
